Paonta Sahib Dehradun four lane highway
Paonta Sahib – Dehradun Highway is a fourlane project which is being constructed between paonta sahib and Dehradun by National Highways Authority of India. With the increase in traffic movement there was an urgent need for a wide highway between the two cities. Construction of this highway will ease the traffic movement between two cities.
Paonta Sahib – Dehradun highway route map
This highway will start west end of paonta Sahib and bypass it with a bridge over river Yamuna. It will connect Shimla bypass and follow a new route and will merge with old highway in premnagar Dehradun.
It will benefit the people of Nahan, Chandigarh, ambala.
The project is constructed under two packages
Package 1
Paonta Sahib – Mednipur Badripur
Package 2
Mednipur Badripur – Ballupur chowk
Cost of the project is around 1594 crores, it will be the mix of Greenfield alignment and upgradation of existing road.
New route will be 7 km less in length.
Earlier two routes were there between Dehradun and paonta sahib namely Shimla bypass and old chakrata road.
New road will bypass the congested area like sudhowala, selakui, sahaspur, Herbetpur.
Some part of Shimla bypass is extended and a new bridge is also constructed on river Yamuna near paonta sahib.
Dehradun Paonta sahib fourlane is expected to be completed in 2025.
A new bypass is also proposed to connect Dehradun Paonta sahib highway with Delhi Dehradun Expressway near asarodi. It will benefit people in bypassing the Dehradun city and easier movement towards chakrata and other parts of uttrakhand and himachal pradesh.
